In Control offers comprehensive, empowering sex education programs to help teens in Rochester, NY gain the knowledge they need to make informed choices. Our programs have purpose—combining opportunities, outreach, resources, and educational opportunities.

We Meet You Where You’re At

Our educators provide non-biased, age-appropriate, and medically accurate information about sex education and personal health issues that affect you and other youth in the City of Rochester.

Our Evidence-Based Sex Education Programs are designed for young people, ages 10 through 19. We provide workshops in schools, community-based organizations, rec centers, and faith-based agencies on a variety of issues, including:

Making Proud Choices

These curricula have been named as “Best Evidence-Based Intervention” programs by the Center for Disease Control and the NYS Department of Health. They both align with the New York State Department of Education Health Education Learning Standards. The goal of the curricula is to address the knowledge, motivation and skills necessary to empower youth to change their behavior in ways that will reduce their risk of becoming infected with HIV, other Sexually Transmitted Infections, and the occurrence of unintended pregnancies.

Learning goals include delaying initiation of sex among inexperienced youth, reducing unprotected sex among sexually active youth, and helping teens to clarify their own values about sexual decisions and pressures. Module activities, videos, role-playing, and demonstrations are designed to be informative and interactive to increase participation and enhance learning.
